Four-part travel journal of John Watson, Jr., a Pennsylvania Quaker. The trip started Apr. 29 in Buckingham, Bucks Co., Pa., went through Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the Ohio River and Cincinnati, to the home of the author's step-father and mother in Spring Valley Twp., Green Co. Documents his stay in the Quaker settlement of the West Branch Monthly Meeting and efforts to persuade his father, sick with a stomach ailment, to leave Ohio. Includes theories on cause and cure of the disease, family data, travel expenses, sketches, and details on topography and vegetation. His return trip via Chillicothe lasted from July 12 to Aug. 1.
